Taping knives (sometimes referred to as spatulas or jointing knives) are a drywall tool with a wide blade that is used for spreading jointing compound. They are commonly used alongside sponge floats to re-work plaster surfaces smooth one coat plasters. Other common tasks taping knives are used for involves smoothing over jointing tapes and patch work when fixing up small holes.
