Taping knives (sometimes referred to as spatulas or jointing knives) are a drywall tool with a wide blade that is used for spreading jointing compound. They are commonly used alongside sponge floats to re-work plaster surfaces smooth one coat plasters. Other common tasks taping knives are used for involves smoothing over jointing tapes and patch work when fixing up small holes. The large format design of this spatula allows it to cover wider areas for more coverage.
