- The steel oval mouth shovel blades are hinged in opposition, for ease
of use and soil removal. A closure stop on the shafts keeps the blades in
parallel when driving the shovel downward into the core. For heavy duty
use when installing stumps and posts for fencing etc...
How to Us:
1) Hammer rebar into the ground to create pathways for water.
2) Use a hose to soak the ground to soften it before using the post hole digger. Wait for the water to soak in before starting.
3) Raise the post hole digger and plunge it, jaws open, into the ground. The jaws will cut into the ground and soften it, making removal easier.
4) Continue to use the weight of the post hole digger for the hard work, circling around the edge of the hole.
5) Drop the digger down with force once the soil has been loosened. Open the handles to grab a bite of earth in the jaws and lift it out.
6) Continue with Steps 4 and 5 until you've removed all the loose soil, making a hole to whichever size is required.
7) Repeat Steps 1 through 5 to deepen the hole - i.e) You'll need a 1-foot-deep hole for posts up to 4 feet tall, and a 2-foot-deep hole for posts from 4 to 8 feet tall.
